bird
bird It is a sculpture built exclusively with materials brought by the sea and collected for months on the beach of Coira de Portosín, in the Muros-Noia estuary, Galicia.
The project takes place in the house my grandparents built, where my grandfather retired after my grandmother's death. For years, he walked along that same beach collecting objects the sea brought to the shore. During a personal crisis, I resumed that practice: walking, exploring, observing, collecting, and, as my grandfather used to say, "fedellar" with it all.
Using sticks, plastics, fishing nets and other fragments found on that beach, the shape of a bird about two meters tall emerged, which I installed on the land behind the house.
bird talks about route.
Of the life of things and of people.
Of memory and traces.
From presence to walking and from the mind adrift.
