bird

bird It is a large-format sculpture built exclusively with materials brought by the sea and collected for months on a beach in Portosín, in the Muros-Noia estuary, Galicia.

The project originated in the house my grandparents built, where my grandfather lived after my grandmother's death. For years, he walked along that same beach collecting objects the sea washed ashore. During a personal crisis, I took up that same practice: walking, exploring, observing, collecting, and, as my grandfather used to say, "fedellar" (a term of endearment) with it all.

Using sticks, plastic, fishing nets, and other fragments found on the site, the form of a bird, about two meters tall, emerged and was installed in the backyard. A work that blends sculpture, environmental intervention, and installation, bird It transforms an intimate memory into a material presence: a tribute, a legacy, and a form of continuity.

This project talks about route

Of the life of things and of people.

Of memory and traces.

From presence to walking, until there are no steps left to take.
